For ARDC Members who enjoy the Classics.
In our continuing efforts to keep the ARDC moving forward while recognising the classics, we offer our Members a sub-club within the ARDC, called ARDC Classic Inc., which has been created to assist those with the registration and utilisation of their favourite classic or historic car.
During this process we were required to create an ‘association’ incorporated through Fair Trading NSW, and to register the Club with Transport for NSW for historic (original) and classic (modified) conditional registration for vehicles 30 years and older.
Membership of ARDC Ltd is a requirement for Membership of ARDC Classic, so it is exclusive to our Members.
ARDC Classic Membership is currently free for all ARDC Members.
Please find below the FAQ’s and links to download your registration form, a copy of the ARDC Classic Inc. Constitution, and the rules for our historic and classic conditional registration.
About ARDC Classic Inc.
What is ARDC Classic?
ARDC Classic Inc. has been incorporated specifically to facilitate historic and classic conditional registration of qualifying vehicles within Transport for NSW. To change the ARDC Ltd constitution is a big job, so it was decided to create a separate but linked club under the NSW Incorporated Association rules to handle the needs of those Members who wish to enjoy their older vehicles.
How did ARDC Classic come about?
The option of the main ARDC Ltd club having historic conditional registration (HVS and CVS) was investigated in 2014. The major obstacle was that the constitution talks about racing cars but not using and enjoying veteran vintage and classic vehicles on weekend runs. That is a requirement of Transport for NSW as they want to see the aims of the club reflecting what the issuing of HVS and CVS is all about. This led to the founding of ARDC Classic Inc. in February of 2015.
Important Information
What is the criteria for becoming a Member of ARDC Classic?
You must be an Active Member of the ARDC.
What sort of vehicle is eligible for Historic Conditional Registration (HVS)?
Your Historic vehicle must be at least 30 years old and the owner/operator must belong to a historic vehicle club recognised by Transport for NSW (such as ARDC Classic Inc.).
For HVS, the vehicle has not been altered (except for certain safety features such as seatbelts, or period options, accessories, and safety items).
Please check THIS LINK in order that you can be fully advised of your rights and the responsibilities of HVS registration, with regard to 30 year old, unmodified vehicles.
What sort of vehicle is eligible for Classic Conditional Registration (CVS)?
Your Classic vehicle must be 30 years old and the owner/operator must belong to a historic vehicle club recognised by Transport for NSW (such as ARDC Classic Inc.).
For CVS, modifications are allowed. However, a good rule of thumb is to remember the vehicle must still be able to hold full registration.
Please check THIS LINK in order that you can be fully advised of your rights and the responsibilities of CVS registration, with regard to 30 year old modified vehicles.
